Danielle Y.

Hired by: Deluxe Entertainment

Position: Information Security Analyst

"I am very grateful to be rejoining the security team at Deluxe Entertainment as a Information Security Analyst; my internship last summer was incredible and I'm immensely humbled to have received a full-time offer. As I begin my professional career in this field, I will be performing necessary actions to protect the company's assets and network. I look forward to developing my skills furthermore and my professional network; thank you STEM Advantage for all that you have done for me! I'm appreciative of everything the program has provided for me."

Abanoub G.

Hired by: Accenture

Position: Consulting Analyst

"During the summer of 2017, STEM Advantage helped me land an internship with Deluxe Entertainment as an Information Security Analyst. After the summer, Deluxe offered me a part-time position while I finished school which I was so grateful for and I wouldn't have had that without STEM Advantage help. Right after graduating, I was presented with an opportunity to join Accenture as a Consulting Analyst. I never knew this is something I will ever do, but thanks to my STEM Advantage mentor, Mr. Albert Ma who guided me in my decision and helped me to see this vision for myself. I am very excited to use what I learned from Deluxe and take it forward with me on my new path with Accenture. Without STEM Advantage help this wouldn't have had happened."

Leanne D.

Hired by: Belkin

Position: Quality Assurance Engineer

"My role consists of testing firmware and software on IoT products called Wemo via its hardware and their app for iOS and Android. Wemo is a Smart Home Automation product line from Belkin that enables users to control their electronic devices locally and remotely from their cellular device. I check for bugs within the app on the most recent versions of iOS/Android phones (iPhone 8, X, Google Pixel 2XL, etc. to name a few!) and log any defects within their bug-tracking system. My reports would include video recordings of the defects along with console logs from the phone and the hardware itself. I also get to experience testing and integrating their partnered products such as Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Apple HomeKit, Nest Thermostat, and IFTTT!"

During the Month of May, STEM Advantage participated in several community events, focused on expanding opportunities through entrepreneurial endeavors, increasing diversity in the workforce, and the status of women in the United States. From this participation, we gained a number of contacts for internship opportunities, mentors, and support.  As we prepare for the next cohort of scholars, we need to find more opportunities for them.

If you are interested in serving as a mentor, or providing full-time, summer internships to our scholars, please contact President & Founder, Lee Ann Kline, at leeann@stemadvantage.org or at 949.322.3320.
