Internships
Internships are critical to expose students to STEM-related careers and provide hands-on, real-world experiences. We are grateful to corporate partners that provide paid internships to STEM Advantage Scholars. Students work hard, have fun, and gain invaluable experiences. Here are a few highlights.
Rubi (center) had an internship at SpaceX last summer. "One of the results of my internship is that I learned what I really wanted to focus on. Also I learned about my strengths and weaknesses. My internship gave me a valuable experience and I am totally looking forward to another great experience this coming summer!" Rubi is a Mechanical Engineering major at Cal State LA.
Edith (left) and Matt had internships at Sony Pictures Entertainment, where they continue to work part-time while earning Computer Science degrees at Cal State Dominguez Hills.
"Working at Sony Pictures Entertainment has not only significantly contributed to both my personal and professional development, but also has revealed how valuable and important my Computer Science degree is." - Edith    "Improving my technical and soft skill set is invaluable to my future career. This internship has prepared me to enter the professional world with confidence in my abilities." - Matt
Benji (center) and Raymond (second from left) had internships at Avery Dennison, where they participated in a rotational program which exposed them to multiple IT areas and projects.  "Avery Dennison has been nothing short of amazing. I've learned a lot! Definitely having a great experience." - Benji.  Both Benji and Raymond are Computer Science majors at Cal State LA.
Adam interned at DIRECTV, now AT&T. "I was able to apply the knowledge I gained in class to real world applications to solve real world problems. I learned how to be more autonomous in finding solutions to problems and gained confidence in my problem solving abilities."
