Danielle, Abanoub and Karina have summer internships at Deluxe Entertainment, where STEM Advantage Vice President Cindy McKenzie is CIO.

"I am so excited to be working with the security team at Deluxe Entertainment, getting exposed to various aspects of security both physical and digital. Seeing security applied within a business and more specifically, within the entertainment industry, has been eye opening with the different technologies used and standards established. Additionally, it is an honor and much fun to be a part of the Academy's GOLD Program with my fellow STEM Advantage Scholars; we are learning and being exposed to the entertainment industry and this is all due to our internships at Deluxe!"  - Danielle

The future is bright for these talented students. Danielle's majoring in Computer Science at Cal State Northridge. Abanoub's majoring in Computer Technology with a focus on Homeland Security at Cal State Dominguez Hills. Karina is majoring in Computer Science at Cal State LA.    

MaryLiza has a summer internship at BCG Digital Ventures. 

"The internship at BCGDV is amazing. I have been learning so much from both my direct department and from networking and meeting people in the different Cohorts that they have here. From the beginning of the internship one thing that they truly want to let us know is that everyone that works here is here to support us. During orientation
alone, I learned so much about the company and its humble beginnings and how the best way to succeed is to talk to everyone around you, learn their experience and use the knowledge to better your goals and
aspirations. This has been a learning opportunity of a lifetime and I am thankful." 

MaryLiza is majoring in Computer Technology with a focus on Homeland Security at Cal State Dominguez Hills. 

Keddye has a summer internship at Virco working with the IT department on various projects.

"Most of my time at Virco has been helping the Project Manager as they prepare to launch a new online store. She has been a great mentor, as she gives me a large variety of work that ranges from marketing research to creating wireframes for the new website, plus testing the website as it prepares to launch. I also learned to use Confluence and Jira as a Project Manager's tool for keeping track of a project, which may be a great tool to utilize in the future. The Virco team has been very welcoming and helpful. I still have about a month to go and I am very excited to learn more as we go." 

Keddye is majoring in Computer Technology at Cal State Dominguez Hills.
