STEM Internship Program Going Strong
"Hire an intern" may seem like a great way to get work done affordably, but there are numerous benefits to having young people in the office: fresh perspective, new ideas, and lots of idealistic energy. A paid internship positively impacts a young person's career trajectory. Read on to see stories that our scholars have shared with us about how highly valuable the internship experience has been to them.

If you or someone you know would like to discuss internship opportunities for STEM Advantage Scholars, please contact us.

Thank you for supporting the next generation of STEM professionals!
Internships Make a Difference
"Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn."
- Benjamin Franklin
STEM Advantage Scholars Sikhoa, Osvaldo, Natalie, Enrique, Shawna, Brandon, Leanne and Ryan have paid internships this summer with the IT department of Farmers Insurance Group.  The students are gaining real-world experience working on projects, learning project management, developing their problem solving and in some cases coding skills, doing business analysis and quality assurance and much more.

STEM Advantage Scholars Ketty (2nd from left) and Adriany (center) are two of five Scholars with paid internships with the IT department of CBS. They are acquiring experience and memories as they and some co-workers went on a tour of a CBS lot, where they met Cameron Mathison, a correspondent on Entertainment Tonight.

The IT department of Avery Dennison is giving four STEM Advantage Scholars Bradley, Laura, Karina and Stephanie real-world experience.  This summer they are rotating through project assignments with various departments to gain multiple experiences that will help them determine what they like to do and what excites them the most.

Internships also lead to full-time jobs! What began as a summer internship at Sony Pictures Entertainment was extended again and again! When Edith graduated in May with a degree in Computer Science from Cal State Dominguez Hills, she was offered a full-time position as a business analyst!

"Working at Sony Pictures Entertainment has not only significantly contributed to both my personal and professional development, but also has revealed how valuable and important my Computer Science degree is."
                                                                                    - Edith

THANK YOU to all of the companies that provide paid internships to STEM Advantage Scholars!

We are seeking mentors in cybersecurity and gaming to pair with STEM Advantage Scholars.  Are you or someone you know interested in being a mentor
